“I had an idea to start a dance team…”
In 2010, then founder now CEO Jamara Taylor started Panthers Supreme with five other students at Brooklyn Friends School. The team quickly became a safe space for young people to learn, connect and grow as individuals. After graduating from college, Jamara returned to her alma matter Brooklyn Friends to coach the team she started. During her five year tenure as the coach and creative director of Panthers Supreme, Jamara directed and choreographed for all of the teams performances, guided students through their personal, educational and dance goals and grew the team from seven dancers to 40.
“LET’S TURN THE TEAM INTO A COMPANY”
What started as a dance team only serving one private school in Brooklyn has now evolved into a full fledge dance company serving students all over New York. We currently have one active chapter in Brooklyn serving two age divisions. We are looking to expand our program and collaborate with more schools all over the city.
MISSION & core values
Supreme Dance Company provides dance training, performance opportunities and developmental resources to rising superstars. Our stars aren’t made, they are prompted through self reflection and introspection on and off the dance floor to help them unveil the characteristics that made them stars all along. Our curriculum guides dancers to passionately leverage the art of dance to discover their divine purpose and personal power. We promote a judgment free community for our students to feel safe while participating in the vulnerable work it takes to leave the dance floor feeling empowered, purposeful and unstoppable in whatever endeavors they pursue.
DANCE TRAINING & PERFORMANCES
Supreme Dance Company dancers train weekly in preparation for their annual showcase as well as competitions and video shoots. Training consists of conditioning, hip hop and jazz funk technique.
